In view of the severity of the COVID, pandemic it was a need to have an enormous hospital so as to cater for the critical care, and health needs of the citizens of the state so that nobody dies due to the non-availability of beds. Non-availability of beds is a slur in society.
In view of this, it was decided to start the Medical College, 750 bed Hospital and Research Centre in the heartland of the Tribal population at Khunti, in the name of tribal icon Birsa Munda which will go a long way in delivering effective and efficient health care accessible to all in this state of Jharkhand.

Only 150 beds for a population of 6.5 lakhMore than 65% of the tribal population. Lack of basic needs and primary healthcare facilities. Naxal affected area with huge population involved in opium cultivation.Aspirational District government of India. Centrally located with adjacent districts, SImdega, Gumla, Saraikela, and West Singhbhum. Infant mortality rate 69.
